In Memory of Gregor Benko (1944-2026)

The Rachmaninoff Network notes with sadness the passing of Gregor Benko, member of our Advisory Board from 2017 to 2025.

Gregor changed the course of music history by establishing and nurturing worldwide appreciation for the art of musical interpretation. He preserved sonic heritage and brought it back to life through reissues on modern sound carriers. His contribution will remain invaluable for understanding early 20th-century performance practice and appreciating the Golden Age of Piano Playing in particular.

The Rachmaninoff Network is deeply grateful to Gregor Benko for his expert advice and critical observations during our pioneering project at Rachmaninoff's country residence, SENAR, and for his moral support at times when we could use an extra boost.
