RACHMANINOFF UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL PROGRAM - SPECIALIST'S CONVENTION (June, 13)
Over the past 5 years the Rachmaninoff Network has preserved and digitized the collection at SENAR. Using a system developed at the Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum the Rachmaninoff Network will proceed to build a database that is able to unite digitized data from private and public collections worldwide.
After a tour of the estate and a visit to the unique Rachmaninoff Up, Close & Personal exhibition, Wouter de Voogd (database architect & technical supervisor) will explain the innovative method behind the system that will eventually allow cross-linking throughout the entire scope of different materials (manuscripts, cheques, letters, photos, contracts, furniture, etc.) and thus provide insight into the composer’s life and music. A subsequent group discussion led by Elger Niels (database content supervisor) will focus on collecting input and ideas and the question of how specialists worldwide can all help this ambitious project forward.
