Sergei Rachmaninoff sends Mitropoulos his Symphonic Dances in 1941

Written by Wouter de Voogd.

Sergei Rachmaninoff sends the conductor Dimitri Mitropoulos a score of his Symphonic Dances opus 45, in 1941. A live recording of Mitropoulos' performance at Carnegy Hall was recenty discovered by the Rachmaninoff Network at Senar, Sergei Rachmaninoff's Swiss estate. Sergei was very fond of this recording.

The inscription reads:

To Mr. Dimitry Mitropoulos - I am sending you as promised my "Symphonic Dances", and I hope you will like them.

Sincerely, Sergei Rachmaninoff, 1941.
