What was the reason the original version was choosen bij Mr. Cobo?

The essential reason is because the original version of this sonata is the first idea of the composer and I believe that this deserves the whole respect. The idea was create a big/great sonata, since it was doing Liszt.

Without underestimating the second version (1931), shorter, it can be influenced by Horowitz.

Rachmaninov was very ambitious and it seems to me that the sonata of 1913 is very well finished and the sections that were suppressed are very interesting. Also I think that for a pianist supposes major challenge interpreting it and major satisfaction.
